We provide services for Waterproofing/ Sealing in the following situations:

Terraces
Flat Roofs - Properly proportioned, mixed and well compacted concrete is expected to be impervious. However, our ground conditions are far from ideal. There is hardly any control on the quantity of water i.e. the water-cement ratio, the proportions & compaction of concrete. Such a scenario, coupled with improper slopes or drainage systems, causes roofs to leak, especially during monsoons.
Balconies and Chhajja Projections - There is a popular belief that balconies and projections do not need to be waterproofed as they have a cover. Our experience is that such locations are prone to leakage due to the rain splashing from the open side and also due to the water entering through the junction of walls and projected slabs.
Apart from newly laid roofs, we also have solutions for old terraces covered with brick tiles, mosaic, terrazzo, kota stone, marble etc.
In most situations, we can waterproof the surface without disturbing the existing treatment.

Rising Dampness in Walls
This is a very common and seemingly incurable problem especially in areas with high ground water tables. Even where the water table is not high, this problem is assuming alarming proportions due to the ingress of surface water (rain as well as irrigating water) into the soil. People have gone to the extent of providing tiles/ marble stone on the walls to hide the recurring appearance of dampness/ efflorescence (‘shora’).
We at Build Care provide a permanent and cost effective solution for this, which not only prevents ingress of water but also provides additional strength to the walls and a moisture free healthy living environment.

Basements & Lift Pits
Basements invariably get flooded during monsoons. Even when it isn’t raining, water seems to keep coming in from nowhere. In places where the water table is known to be high, people do try to take some precautions but in areas where the water table is very low, the aspect of waterproofing of basements is generally neglected. The result is that the basements start leaking once they are put to use.
We offer cost effective specifications as well as treatments for proper waterproofing of underground structures (Basements, Lift Pits, etc.) both during and after construction.

Expansion/ Building Joints Sealing:
Expansion / Crumple / Separation joints provided between two building blocks are invariably prone to leakages. People have tried a lot of methods to prevent these leakages. Methods like filling them with Bitumen or covering them with Concrete slabs / Kota stone, Silicone / Polysulphide / Epoxy Urethane & PU Sealants etc have been tried, but all these have resulted in limited success. We have successfully overcome such problems by using multi component, reinforced polyester systems. We can virtually make any joint water – tight in any situation. Seemingly impossible profiles and situations have been effectively dealt with a high degree of satisfaction.

Floor Joint Sealing (Internal)
The building joints are carried through the roof, walls as well as the floors. The purpose of sealing is by and large the same in each situation but the system of sealing varies depending upon the specific requirements of each situation. Floor joints are often neglected with the result that they become eyesores and places for accumulation of dirt and bacteria. Floor joints require the sealing arrangement to be tough enough to withstand the traffic loads coming over them. At the same time they need to be flexible enough to accommodate the building movement. These are two contradictory requirements. Here we understand that the Shore Hardness of the sealant is relatively more important as compared to the flexibility and the related water tightness. We provide traffic grade sealing for such situations. However, in case water tightness is also important, we have systems to meet such needs.

Wall Joint Sealing (External and Internal)
Building Joints sealing in the walls is another area where a number of methods have been tried by various people but the covers so provided suffer from one or the other limitation. Metal covers keep getting detached apart from acting as dirt / dust accumulation places. Polysulphide and silicone sealants have tendency of detachment apart from the limitation of being non paint-able. We have systems which are flexible, non-detaching and are paint-able.

Wet Areas (Internal)
- Toilets
- Bathrooms
- Washrooms
- Kitchens
- Laundries
The RCC slabs in such locations are prone to continuous action of water and harmful effluents. The source of water entry on to the slab could be direct ingress through the floor/ tile joints, leaking buried pipe joints, faulty floor trap connections etc. Such slabs therefore need special treatments for waterproofing. We provide waterproofing systems suited for the specific situations.
Kitchens, especially the wash areas are affected by water containing fats and solid materials which are liable to block the drainage systems very frequently. The RCC slabs in such locations are therefore prone to continuous action of water and fatty effluents. The source of water entry on to the slab could be direct ingress through the floor / tile joints, leaking buried pipe joints, faulty floor trap connections etc. Such slabs therefore need special treatments for waterproofing.
We provide waterproofing systems which can withstand the continuous exposure to fats and other effluents.

Sloping Roofs
Sloping roofs are becoming very common in buildings from the architectural point of view. Contrary to the common belief that such roofs will not leak as no water will be able to stand on them due to steep slopes, such roofs are highly prone to leakage due to inadequate compaction. These terraces need different kinds of treatment depending upon the yearly temperature variations in the region. We provide waterproofing solutions for all such situations.

Water Retaining Structures
- Water Tanks
- Swimming Pools
- Sumps
- Drains
- Roof Gutters
Water retaining structures need a system of waterproofing which is able to withstand action of the stored fluids constantly. These should not be affected by the chemical properties of the contained liquid. So generally speaking, film type coatings would not be suitable for such situations. Treatments that penetrate into the body of the concrete would be better suited for such structures. Due consideration will have to be given to the fact whether these are underground, above ground or are semi underground. In long gutters and large sized pools there will be a need to provide expansion / crumple joints. Such joints need to be sealed effectively against leakage. We take all such aspects into consideration before deciding upon the nature of treatment in each situation.

Planter Boxes
With squeezing spaces, there is an ever increasing need to provide plants and other vegetation in planters. These are normally provided as projections from building walls. The presence of water, soil manure and roots in the planters makes them highly prone to leakage and therefore a potential cause of dampness in the adjacent walls. These need to be waterproofed with special materials which are resistant to water, soil manure and roots.

Roof / Deck Parking Areas
With squeezing spaces and growing number of vehicles, parking spaces are becoming a scarce commodity. More and more building owners are being forced to use their terraces for parking. Such terraces are subject to peculiar conditions which need specific systems for waterproofing. The parking deck slabs need to have joints to avoid cracks. These joints need special sealing arrangements against action of wheels and two wheeler stands. Sudden application of brakes and the stationary steering of wheels on the terrace cause very peculiar set of conditions on such terraces. Such terraces if not treated with due consideration lead to leakage. We have developed systems which ensure protection under such conditions. We have effectively sealed a number of such terraces which were considered seemingly impossible to treat.

Terrace Gardens
Shrinking spaces coupled with rising real estate costs, prevent us from enjoying green spaces. The remedy lies in creating green spaces on our terraces. These green tops give us the added benefit of keeping the roof cool. However the danger of leakage through such green top terrace gardens prevents many people from going in for such roof top gardens. We have developed cost effective specifications to treat terrace gardens effectively. We not only provide waterproofing treatment for such terraces, we also provide complimentary advice on drainage related aspects of such gardens.
